A Tapas Cocktail Hour
patatas bravas & pan con tomate
I am a true believer in the cocktail hour. A little drink, some small bites and some socialization between the hours of 5 and 7pm just does something for me. I think it’s a lovely (and under-utilized) hosting opportunity too.
It’s a casual hang to punctuate the end of the work week on a Friday night that still leaves room for dinner plans or an early bedtime depending on your mood. For hosts, it’s lower effort, and lower pressure too. A batched cocktail, and 2-3 simple recipes is all you really need, and you have a formula for (mostly) stress-free hosting. No big dinners, no crazy timing to figure out, and depending on what you choose to make, all the elements can be completed in under an hour.
Last week, I hosted a Spanish-themed Tapas Cocktail Hour on Friday night, and it was the perfect way to mark the end of a hectic week.
Below are 2 recipes that I served, and both were total hits. A smashed patatas bravas with spicy yogurt sauce and pan con tomate. Hope you enjoy! Printable PDFs for both recipes can be found at the end of this email. I also worked through these in real time in the last YouTube video, linked here:
Onto the recipes!
